I already finished 6 Bay Area peaks, but my goal is to do all 9, so this is #8. Last year, I did Umunhum in late September when it was still pretty hot. This time, in early April, it was pretty chilly, especially at the top! Much of the trail is shaded, which is definitely helpful on a hotter day, but made it a little colder on a chillier day.

The views from the top were great! You could see Lick Observatory across the way as well as downtown SJ and beyond. There’s a nice area where you can sit and enjoy the views at the top as well.

The hike is pretty gradual. Once you get near the top, there’s a set of stairs that you go up and then you’ll see the boxy-looking building at the top.
