After 1 back injury and 2 individual COVID infections, my boyfriend and I were back on our training journey for Mt Whitney. And boy, did we really jump back into the grind with Mt Baldy.

Starting at Manker Flats up to Devil's Backbone and coming down Baldy Bowl, this hike tests your physical and mental stamina.

I'd always recommend Devil's Backbone for a beautiful and unique hike. Hated Baldy Bowl (both times I've done it), but it definitely is a good training route and it forces you to challenge whatever headspace you may be hiking in.

Chaos at the top from how many people are gathered, it's sometimes easier to plan to eat your lunch (if you brought one) just before or right after the summit since it can be difficult to find space at the peak.

Wear sunscreen and protective clothing!! The sun exposure can sneak up on you.
