I got to the parking lot at 6:50 and I took the last spot in the lot. It was packed. It was also very foggy and frrreezing. Can this be June, I mean I even had my Nanopuff out!
Being in the time of COVID, our leader Shana told us once we got there, just start hiking. We all hiked our own hike and she merely kept tally on who showed up, for safety. I started hiking with a group of 3, but being on my A-game that day, I went on ahead on my own. There were many people on the trail, so I really wasnt alone. I had my buff to cover my face when needed and I made sure to move and turn my back to those that passed me. Everyone seemed to be respectful of covering their faces when passing and to keep others safe.
Now the fog…it was foggy. It loomed overhead, pretty thick. I was enthralled by the fog's movement. In some spots, there was none and others, it just engulfed me. As I climbed, it burned off and there were blue skies. There were a few spots of lingering snow, and I was super careful to cross with care.
I met some of the group at the top and we had lunch together. I was cold and very windy at the summit. I ate, took my pictures and came back down. The snow crossings were slushy on the way down and being the kid at heart, I slid down one of them!
Once I got to lower elevation, oh the fog greeted me again. It was thick. The temperature dropped. It was eerie, but lovely.
What a great day. I ran into several friends on the hike, caught up on the latest news. the day was just…perfect.
