The weather was perfect to hike Baden Powell today. The lowest degree was like 45 or 47 degrees and mainly just a little chilly in the shady areas. My team went up with only two layers and were fine.
We all brought microspikes as I anticipated some snow still on the trail in the higher elevation and there was. Microspikes are an important piece of equipment to take anytime you even think there maybe some ice or snow. I saw a few people sliding and slipping on the way down. Other than the weather, the skies were clear and some amazing views of the San Gabriel mountains including the North Face of Mount Baldy.
The trail was a bit busy with at least another 40 or 50 people on the trails including a cute 4 year old girl named “Harper” doing the Six Pack of Peak challenge with her father. As an ambassador, she is the youngest hiker I've seen so far in any of these peaks. I offered a gift Six Pack of Peaks registration to her father for her to continue on her journey. I will post a picture of them on a post on SoCal Hikers on Facebook. I also, met a lot of other six pack of peaks challengers and made a few new hiking friends.
This concludes my first 6 Peak Challenge + 2 Alternative peaks for 2018. I am likely to take all these on again but coordinate small groups to help others to achieve the same. Hike on and be safe fellow So Cal Hikers!
