2 weeks ago took the ski hut trail and made it to the saddle about .9 mile from summit & had to turn around because it was already too late in day wasn’t sure I’d make it out before dark. That trail was brutal. THIS TIME went up the ski lift to the restaurant and started hiking up the Turkey shoot, across the Devils backbone trail, past Harwood mountain and up to the top of Baldy. Pretty crowded narrow trail which was pretty exposed scree at points. Came across about 50 people that day that passed me because I am a super slow hiker. Trees and bushes above 9000 feet have icicles in them still and some nice snow faces on the backside of baldy and at the top. Pretty darn cold up there in the clouds ☁️ in the 30s. Saw two Big horn sheep on the scree slope of mt Harwood on the way back. People in the trail super nice as usual. Hikers are such nice people. I need a traiL nickname that has to do with being slow or taking lots of breaks lol but even so I MADE IT my first summit of Baldy. Took 4 hours up and 2 hours back.
