Mount Baldy via Iron Mountain to West Baldy San Antonio Ridge Traverse.
This is one of the most strenuous (and dangerous) routes to Mount Baldy. Basically you start with Iron Mountain from Heston Flat, which itself is the hardest single-summit hike in the entire San Gabriel Mountains. But instead of out-and-back, from Iron Mountain traverse the San Antonio Ridge to West Baldy, a 6 mile adventure which involves Class 2 and some Class 3 scrambling over large obstacles and drop offs. The traverse ends with a steep and slippery scree ascent of West Baldy. After all that, Baldy itself is a 1/2 mile walk in the park.
