Did a lollipop hike going first to Basin Peak then Castle Peak and then back to the trail head via Castle Valley Road. Not a lot of people on trail probably due to being a week day. The views from Basin Peak and along the ridge to Castle Peak were great, signs of the season starting to shift were visible. There was no one around when I hiked over to Castle Peak, I got close to the peak but did not summit the true peak. My risk tolerance hiking solo started to wane, never the less the views were great. I met some people on the ridge who were doing the loop in the opposite direction. The pro’s to this is that I believe the downs were probably less steep, the con is I believe the views on the ridge heading towards Castle Peak were better.
