Trail conditions were good – we had perfect weather for hiking in the Sedona sun. To park at the trailhead, you must display a Red Rock Pass, which are available for purchase in the parking lot (cash or credit).
We started somewhat early in the day and had the trail nearly to ourselves on the way up. After climbing for what felt like a very LONG time, we had some snacks at the summit and found another group of hikers who was also doing the challenge, which was neat. We snapped photos with them (and they let us use their six pack of peaks challenge banner) before heading back down the mountain. On the way down, we ran into far more people who were heading up.
The views heading down the mountain were incredible (well, they were great on the way up too, but I was focused on other things while going UP). This hike is a great workout that offers some fantastic red rock views. From the summit, you also get a view of Humphreys peak, which was still covered in snow.
