It was a warm July day on the Marin County coastline. We started at Stinson at 8:30am-there was some morning fog cover, but by the time we hit the summit around 1230 it was burned off. I got sunburned on my chest/neck where I didn't apply sunscreen. It was definitely warm and sunny with limited shade cover at the top -sunscreen, wide brimmed hat, ample water are all recommended. Also, we did encounter a rattle snake crossing the trail – she slithered right past us and into a hole – but we were all very surprised and alarmed. Took us about 6.5 active hours, 7 hours total with bathroom and snack breaks. My favorite part was definitely the dense moist redwood forests, but the summit views were pretty impressive. We logged 16 miles total and I was pretty ready for my celebratory dinner and beer by the end of it!
