It was a perfect day — mostly sunny and in the high 50s/low 60s. We saw lots of wildflowers and small animals. If you could skip the shortcut, this wouldn't be a terribly difficult hike; however, the shortcut at the very beginning makes the climb out at the end more painful. Taking our cue from another poster, we soaked our feet in the creek past Poverty Flats and had a little snack. Luxurious! Gorgeous state park and a beautiful hike. Hiking along the ridge was the least interesting part of the hike, so I look forward to going back and exploring around the middle ridge and poverty flats a bit more.
