We were on the trail by 7am, which was a wise decision. It was hot on the way down. But I really liked this hike. It's a well-maintained road, and most of the ascent is quite gradual, until the last push to the top. The firewatcher at the tower was really welcoming, so we spent a long time up on the tower with her. There were hardly any other people on the trail. The descent was exposed and hot walking on all the cinders. I'm looking forward to doing this hike again at different times of the year. Lots of wildflowers today, and the views are amazing!
