The hike was amazingly beautiful. The trail was lined with beautiful Oaks and the ground was littered with fallen acorns. A flowing creek could be heard off and on while hiking the lower portion of the trail. We spotted a family of black-tailed deer while taking a break at Orchard Camp. The trail was in pretty good shape, had a few areas that concerned me- small land slide the covered approx 5 feet of the trail and also a small portion of the trail turns into just rocks that you need to navigate and then returns to normal dirt trail again. I’m obviously a weenie as people were running and biking this trail seemingly without any concerns. The trail was a bit long for me as our tracker showed we hiked a bit over 16 miles from the Mt.Wilson trailhead…next time I will try the Chantry Flats trailhead which is a 13 mile loop….
