The trail was beautiful!  Lots of wildflowers were blooming and everything was green!  The trail is in good shape.   There was a lot of shade.  Make sure to pay attention on the last 3/4 of a mile to the top.  It's easy to get off of the trail and end up on the fire road.  The fire road does go to the same place, but there is no shade.  The Mt Wilson marker is in the first parking lot that you get to when coming off the trail.  You will see the Cosmic Cafe ahead of your.  The marker is in the far right  corner of the parking lot near a bush and chain link fence (if you are facing the cafe).  We walked all the way to Echo Rock thinking that was the marker and that added extra mileage.  Our moving time was 9 hours.  It's a long hike and a pretty constant uphill the whole 7 miles up and then downhill on the return.  We didn't encounter mosquitos, but lots of flies and gnats.
