This was a gorgeous new hike for us! It was so beautiful! it's actually one of my new favorites! The trails were in excellent shape! For the most part, a gradual climb up with only a few short steep sections. This is a VERY LONG DAY clocking in at 17 miles round trip. It's important to stop and take breaks every so often. About 3 miles in, you come to a Manzanita type grove, fairly level for a few miles, and it is about half way so makes for a nice resting break. A place to fuel up before your climbing at altitude really begins.

Be prepared, have plenty of water and snacks within easy reach. Take time to stop and enjoy the views. They are FANTASTIC!

Words of caution: The parking lot was FULL by 7:00 a.m. and we had to park down the road a little way. I would highly recommend using a higher-clearance vehicle to drive onto the dirt road. It was VERY rutted and some small boulders in random spots. I was VERY happy to take our truck rather than my Corolla! A few others made comments about the road condition as well.
