Everything about this hike is beautiful and mystical. First time to hike this peak and it made it’s way onto my favorites list. The entire hike I kept saying “this is such a weird hike”. It’s weirdly enjoyable, weirdly beautiful, weirdly demanding, weirdly weird. Once you get down into the “rainforest” type environment, it reminded me of a sinkhole my brother and I would explore and play in, in Payson. The ground was damp, the air was cool yet damp, so many lush beautiful plants, the smell of wet wood.. you hike up and up and up and finally reach part of the dirt road up to the fire tower. Once on the dirt road the summit is within an arms reach. Spent a good amount of time at the top having the whole area to myself for about 20 minutes then a fellow hiker came up behind with his pup. The weather could not have been anymore perfect. Just under 2 hours to the top and 1 solid hour back down. Parts of the trail are easy to run which was nice for the trek down. This is definitely not a one and done hike.. I look forward to this one again!
