Imagine walking on the moon for a million miles and then climbing a sand dune at a 45-degree angle. We saw one other person the entire time. The top is desolate but the view of Sisters and Mt Washington were great. The lava rock was unforgiving on our feet, esp. on the way back. Do not bring any dogs. And wear real hiking boots. Wouldn't do it again but wouldn't discourage someone from doing it, as it is quite the experience.
