AMAZING trip with my friend. Started the hike at 5:45 am… 10 degrees and lots of layers.
Fresh snow a few days before. The first mile or two had been crossed before, and it could have been managed with microspikes. But, we had already geared up with snowshoes, so we kept them on. A little while after transitioning to Bergen Peak Trail, the previous track ended so we were plowing through fresh powder! It was glorious.
The day and hike transitioned, and we got to watch snow melt from the trees and rocks. We moved from coats and snowshoes in deep powder to shirts and boots in the mud on Too Long Trail. No wind. I could not have asked for a better day!
