Wow. This was a tough one. We started pre-dawn, but by the end of the hike we were more than ready to be done.
The trail was good- mostly soft dirt with a few areas of rocks/gravel that were tough on the feet.
The peak was lovely with nice views all around.
This was physically hard- it’s a lot of elevation gain and thin air, which made for slow going. Seeing wildfire devastation and burned trees and foliage all around for a majority of this hike made it emotionally difficult as well. The lack of shade added to the degree of difficulty.
I’m glad this one is behind us, and happy to have completed it, but not a hike I’m anxious to revisit.
Kudos to the one other hiker (also a 6-pack challenger) who we met at the peak!
