The nice thing about this hike is that there is a committee to greet you on your first 2 miles…Ticks, and lots of them. Trail is overgrown with Star thistles so thick pants are recommended. It was hot and the wash out 4 miles in is difficult. Go over it do not try to cross. I tried on the way back and ended up sliding down the hill about 20 ft. There’s “got lost gorge” before you begin the coyote brush and manzanita maze. I shouldn’t have pushed myself on this hike in June. Its’s difficult terrain and no shade. Hikers be warned…
the views from the Peak were spectacular though and the last 1.5 miles is on a dirt road which beats the bushwhacking you’ll be doing on most of this trail.
