Hike was extremely challenging. On this list, the last peak is High Point which I did last year. Even though El Cajon is shorter, the challenge is the ups and downs going both ways. And when coming back, you’ve got to use reserve energy to make it up those more difficult climbs. Even some of the descends were steep. Plus it rained the day before, so some spots had lots of mud to step in. Wear efficient hiking boots if you hike after rain. Sneakers won’t cut it! Even with my waterproof Merrells, I still slipped and fell around mile 8, going downhill. I had to use my trekking poles for 90% of this hike. Although you can do it without, I highly recommend you use them. After that, this hike had some serious views!!! Making it completely worth while! Cheers!
