First, some words of caution: Wow it was hot. 90 at the summit, but at least there was a breeze up there. The trails were another story. The top three miles were very steep (note: I've done the Quarry Trail before, so at least that was no surprise) and the top two miles were almost completely exposed. DO NOT fool yourself into thinking three liters of water is enough on a hot day; I was really dehydrated on the way down. Thank god for the water fountain at the trailhead!
Pretty good crowd on the trails; I was thinking Mother's Day might keep people at home, but there were still plenty of hikers, all ages and abilities. It was a great time seeing people out. Note to MPOSD though: you really should consider whether you need to keep the trails one-way though. I was in no condition to add two miles to my hike on the way down when I was dehydrated and overheated, not to mention fully vaccinated.
RSA is a very challenging park and I was glad to save Black Mountain for the final challenge of the six-pack! I had a great time. Good luck everyone!
