This is my 2nd hike from the challenge and it was a good one. The PG&E trail is a challenge in it's own right; a lot of ups and downs so you lose elevation that you gained. UGH! Very pretty on the way up and the lower parts are heavily trafficked. The last 2 miles is tough. It starts at the summit of the PG&E trail, and it begins narrow and steep. You hit some switchbacks, and then you are out in the sun amongst tall brush and manzanita tree's. I did this alone and late in the morning, so at times I felt a little worried if something were to happen there wouldn't be much foot traffic. Also, for some reason I kept thinking I was going to be in a standoff with a mountain lion at any point of that portion. The top of the peak is pretty boring. I'm referring to the rocks where the seal is located. You get some cool views of the hillside but not much to look at. The best views are on the way up and when you stop to look behind you. I saw the city easily.
Back down was not a piece of cake either. Remember the ups and downs I mentioned. You hit those too. All in all it's a good workout and I completed it in 5 hours. Pretty long but I did stop quite a bit for video and pics.
