Hike #3 and my least favorite. After hike 2 I was feeling much more motivated to complete the challenge. I was most nervous for this hike because of the Devils Backbone and my fear of heights. Good news is it wasn’t as bad as I expected.
We made sure to check the winds before committing to this hike. I think the forecast was for 15-20 mph in morning and they weren’t bad. By the time we were heading down they had definitely picked up (almost lost my hat a couple times). The last push to the top was a struggle. Lots of people, dry – we joked that we were walking on the moon or Mars.
Such an expansive view at the top. Wow. I continue to love the views – makes the effort worthwhile. But overall, maybe not enough trees, maybe I wasn’t feeling 100%, this hike was just blah, unenjoyable, hard. Won’t do it again if I don’t have to!
