Another perfect hiking day. The road to Bonanza is getting sketchier so don't drive your sedan. Saw only one group on the trail which is still full of blooming wildflowers. The only unexpected event was the horse tax. Upon leaving a group of wild horses were hanging out alongside the road, with a mama horse standing directly in the road. Her expression was definitely “None shall pass.” (Turns out her baby was also standing alongside the road.) So after a brief staredown we decided to give the horse an offering. I know your not supposed to feed wild horses but as soon as I flung some treats over on the side of the road she sauntered over to investigate. We then drove super slow past her and baby. So don't eat all of your food on the trail, or at least save some for the horse snack tax.
