Full disclosure, I traveled from San Diego to do this hike, other than checking the weather & calling the ranger station the day before, I had little understanding of the weather conditions in the area. The ranger for Lee Canyon recommended micro spikes, which we had, but after hiking in 2.5 miles, the trail disappeared below two feet of snow and without snow shoes was unsafe to pass and more difficult to navigate. We turned back. It was a gorgeous day out and we enjoyed the views the trail provided. It was a fun experience overall all, and I plan to come back to complete the peak when the flowers are in bloom. I would recommend a high clearance vehicle for the road leading to the trailhead, though my friend was able to navigate it in her Honda Accord, she did feel uncertain at times.
You can contact the Kyle Canyon Visitor's Center at 702-872-5486 to obtain current conditions for the Spring Mountains – though it proved unhelpful for summit report
