The weather was absolutely perfect for this hike up BP with 60ish degrees and sunny with a light wind. As a scout parent, the fact that the trail to Baden-Powell was cut by scouts was ever on my mind as I struggled up the switchbacks. Man those kids were tough! Living at sea level definitely is a disadvantage if you complete this as a day trip. My hiking partner developed a bloody nose early in the hike, and it was slow going as we adjusted our pace for the higher elevation. I am well conditioned and typically hike at 3.9 mph, and this was a steady 2.0 mph. The trail was busy, and had a couple of downed trees, but both were passable. I don't recommend a weekend if you are looking for peace, as there were multiple groups having celebratory beers on the summit and there was an actual line to get a photo with the flag. The weather was predictably mild due to the elevation, so it was not strictly necessary to carry a great deal of water (2 L was plenty for me) as it was cool even at midday. This one is definitely doable, but makes you work for it.
