We had a GREAT time hiking Mt Baldy! It was incredibly windy this particular day which made the Backbone a bit spookier than usual. Everyone hiking opposite of us kept warning us about the wind and we were like “oh no, we already feel it!” By the time it was strong enough that we were actually concerned, we were so close to the summit, it seemed safer to keep going forward than to turn back, so we did!
We settled into a perfect little rock shelter to enjoy our traditional Summit Swamis and Salamis! With the wind blocked, it was a perfect lunch, time got away from us and we spent nearly 90 minutes just hanging out at the summit. We hiked down the ski hut trail with a bit of a buzz from our IPAs and then headed back home for a well-deserved ramen dinner!
