This hike has the best views of any trail I've been on in Flagstaff. I loved it far more than I loved Humphreys. Such gorgeous wildflowers and regrowth. The trail is shaded in many parts. It's definitely a long hike and a work out, but it's steady the entire time. The views along the entire trail are just gorgeous, and then you're rewarded with an outlook of the painted desert, Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, etc when you get to the top. We brought up a small picnic to enjoy. The road is a tiny bit rough to get in, but still very easily passable with a sedan.
