Our hike started this morning around 9 am. The parking lot is way too small for the number of people that want to hike this popular trail. To avoid the wait for a spot we parked at the closed parking lot we could find, at the corner of 44th St and Bethany Home Road. The distance was just about two miles from the trailhead. We decided that the two mile walk each way would serve as a warm up and cooldown from the strenuous climb.
The weather was beautiful, cool and clear. The temp started in upper 40's and by the time we finished around 1 pm it was lower 60's. Could not ask for better weather.
There were a lot of people on the mountain and several times we had to wait a few minutes for the trail to clear of traffic in the other direction. That was ok with me as I usually needed the breather anyway.
It was a beautiful hike and we had a great time. Looking forward to the next summit.
