Started at 7am, 30min after sunrise, was the first to sign in (though the trail crew were there earlier). Met one person on the way up and several on the way down. I was expecting to start in Duxbury, but Burrows is the Huntington side. Weather report was for sun, but the summit was wild! 46 degrees F, windy; luckily I'd thrown a beanie, gloves and extra jacket in my bag at the last minute. Visibility down the summit rock face was too bad for me to feel confident continuing the loop solo, so I just did up and back — though another hiker did summit at the same time and didn't seem daunted. After the cold and wind, I was pretty glad to get back to the cover of the woods. I also made an error on the way up: at the first clearing I started down Monroe instead of the Summit trail, so watch the signs closely (you'd think heading downhill would have been my sign)! Including the .25mi error, the out and back took me about 5 hours. If hiking with a partner, I'd probably hike from Duxbury and later in the day after the fog has burned off.
