Total hike took around 4 hours with 2 1/2 hours of actual hiking time. The hike itself took a bit longer than anticipated due to my partner's bad back. Dougal, my miniature schnauzer, had a blast. The trail was just long enough and steep enough for him to Gert out some energy, but not overexert himself. It was slightly chilly during the day when the breeze picked up and very cold at night. We hiked about an hour of the trail in darkness. Thankfully, we both had headlamps with us. Be sure to keep an eye open at the summit. There are a couple historical gems tucked away there. Saw an animal, roughly the size of a coyote run ahead of us near the summit. Be on the look out if you have a small dog with you. Other than that we had perfect weather conditions, amazing views, and a tasty shot of fireball on the Powell bench.
