Another great day on a San Diego Six Pack of Peaks Trail! Saved the easiest peak for last to complete the San Diego Six Pack of Peaks 2023.
My friend, Cathy, and I stepped at about 0730 this morning. We were the only hikers on the trail. Temps were in the 30's, so it was a little chilly as we began the hike. The trail was in great shape. Just a few muddy spots. No snow or icy conditions. I've completed this peak at least six times and as always once up on the ridgeline just before the summit, it was a bit breezy.
We spent about 40 minutes at the summit relaxing and taking in the views. On the way down we saw several hikers and groups of hikers heading up. We decided to take the Five Oaks Trail down. It's a bit more scenic and it's an actual trail not the fire road we hike up on. Slightly longer, but worth it! Temps began to warm up as we descended. Probably into the low 60's.
