The hike is on Los Coyotes Indian reservation land and requires a $10 fee to go inside. Be sure to bring cash or you can pay ahead online. After paying, keep driving forward towards Sakut Road and there's a small parking lot at the trailhead.
Even though it's April, there was still a lot of ice up at the top. Weather conditions were also cloudy and windy so I had to be careful about bits of ice falling from trees. Wasn't too dangerous though. The hike itself is not too difficult given that it's 10 miles out and back. The first half had some steep hills, but it gradually gets more flat. I finished in less than 4 hours with minimal breaks.
