Headed up from my home at sea level to see San Diego’s half dome. My wife Danielle is injured right now, so I brought my canine pal Riggs. The air temperature stayed relatively cool. I was a little anxious that it would be blistering hot. There were a few bugs to contend with near the trail head along Morena Creek. Chemise and Manzanita grew into the trail so I’m glad I had a long sleeve shirt. The growth made it difficult to use hiking poles. This was such an amazingly beautiful hike. The views at the top of Corte Madera are spectacular. I only saw five people during the whole hike, and it was a Sunday morning.

So excited to see this! I just planned a camping trip to Los Coyotes Reservation so we can hike Hot Springs Mountain in October. Trying to see if I can squeeze in this hike or High Point. Do you think it’s doable? We’re driving in from Phoenix.
I think it’s doable. The good thing about High Point is it’s not too far from los coyotes. Corte Madera is a little bit farther away. But it’s a shorter hike. maybe you hit it on your way back to Phoenix via I-8. Happy hiking!
