Ron and I took on Bear Mountain as our second summit in the Six Pack of Peaks Arizona Summer Series.
We are both climbing with injuries and I struggled with this one a little more than I did back in March pre-injury. We still beat that time by just about 5 minutes. I was hoping for better but I'll take it.
I love this mountain. It's tough, the terrain varies quite a bit, and it's beautiful. There are great views of Fay Canyon below when you get to about the two mile point. You can also see much of Sedona and the surrounding area, with a view of the San Francisco Peaks north of Flagstaff when you reach the peak.
It was a blue sky with puffy clouds kind of day, about 70 degrees with very little wind. We couldn't have asked for a better day.
Trail conditions were great. There's a new sign at the top and someone has recently repainted some of the arrows helping us find our way and stay on the path. Reaching that sign will make one extremely grateful!
