Began the hike about 30 minutes before sunrise to a cool 54 degree temperature. The hike for me got pretty challenging as there are a couple of areas that have boulders to climb and pretty aggressive inclines. But, I did love this challenging aspect.
I knew I had to move at a strong pace to beat the heat on my return. However, my body told me to slow things a few times and the more challenging areas required me to take my time. The summit provided me such tranquility especially since I was the only one on the mountain the entire day as most people wouldn't attempt this climb during this time of the summer. I will note that I was ample prepared for hiking in the sun and heat. At the summit I signed the guest log in the box and took photos. Plus, had time to meditate and eat.
The return trip took just as long due to those challenging areas. I noticed a ranger plane flying overhead circling around me a few times probably to see how that crazy climber was doing. By the time I returned to the Trailhead it was 11am and Temps were hitting 90 degrees.
My advice, be prepared with lots of water ie. 3 plus liters at minimum have light layers and a hat to keep sun off and bug spray.
Overall, great hike! I will do it again, though during the cooler months 😎
