Corte Madera is the newest trail in SD challenge and I’d say, didn’t disappoint, awed with its views. Surprisingly green and had a vibe not a trail in San Diego. For me, SD trails are brown with sporadic greens here and there, mostly hot and exposed and all the smooth boulders. I wonder if this trail is like this all year or we were just lucky that it’s spring.
Our hike was way shorter than our drive to and from the trailhead but since it was our first time hiking here, we were still excited. Parking was only a handful but even if we got there at 8am, we were able to snug spaces for our cars.
The trail wasn’t busy today and most hikers we encountered were also doing the challenge and two of them we actually met in Cuyamaca. The view from the top was amazing but with a very steep drop, which I supposed, why it was nicknamed half dome of SD. Overall, the trail was enjoyable.
