This was a two peak day.  We started with Corte Madera.  The weather was perfect…sunny but not too warm.  It was nice that the first part of the trail is not too exposed…along Kernan Road.  From Kernan Road we turned onto Espinosa Trail.  The turn is very clearly marked.  Espinosa Trail starts out with shady sections, but then becomes more exposed as you approach Los Pinos Road.  The trail here is in good condition.  It is a bit rocky in places.  The trail is maintained well with the brush cut back nicely.  After Espinosa Trail, we turned right onto Los Pinos Road.  We then came to a four way intersection where we went straight through to get onto Corte Madera Mountain Trail.  This trail is beautiful!  It is shaded in areas.  It is all single-track.  The manzanita is overgrown for much of the trail, particularly on the second half as you approach the peak.  Long pants and long sleeves are definitely a good idea here.  There were rocky areas along this trail, including one area that involved a bit of scrambling.  We saw the kissing rocks.  The views along the entire trail were amazing!  The peak was not windy on this day, so that was a treat.  This is an out and back trail, so we returned the same way.  After summiting Corte Madera, we decided to summit Los Pinos, which we could see from the top of Corte Madera.  When we got back down to Los Pinos Road, we just continued on that road and took it all the way to the top of Los Pinos.  There is a fire lookout at the top.  On this day, the fire lookout was being manned.  The forest service employee in the lookout tower let us come up and see the view from the tower.  There were a couple of fires in Mexico that he pointed out, and he told us all about his job, pointed out many of the various peaks that were visible from the tower, and shared some extra cold waters that he had with us. What a great addition to our hike! A most excellent day!  We then took another section of Los Pinos Road down and back to our cars.
