Hiked it in the early morning of Thanksgiving Day. Temp was chilly and crisp mid-40s. Air was clear. Wind picked up as we were hiking upwards, by about 10am. The wind was strong at the peak and it nearly knocked the sign off my hand as I was filming a selfie. One of the hiker's hat flew off her head and landed on some tree branch. Another hiker was able to retrieve it by climbing down the side of a large boulder. Another hiker said the wind knocked off his eyeglasses off his face and was not able to retrieve it. We were able to take some refuge from wind and ate our food behind some boulders. The hike down sounded terrible and wind gusts were stronger. The bushes kept snagging my clothes and little branches would often swing in-front of my face. Just the sound of the howling wind would have scared the pants off me if I was hiking by myself. The tall pine trees and manzanita bushes swayed with the wind. It made me think of the article I've read about widower trees; I kept thinking, its not my time to die (LOL!). Once we got back down to Espinosa TH the wind mellowed out and I felt anxiety free.
