I highly recommend long pants and a long sleeve shirt, regardless of the weather. The single track trail for more than half of this hike is very overgrown with brushes and you will be constantly sliding your arms and shins against small branches leaves and somewhat pokey things.
Also it's 4.7 miles of driving on dirt before you get to a small little parking lot for the trailhead is. If you have a Porsche 911 I wouldn't recommend it, I was fine in my Honda Civic but keep in mind I had to drive quite slow. If you also have an I will drive or four-wheel-drive vehicle that would be preferable for this last five-ish miles..
