It was a crisp 30 degrees as we started this morning, but in the sun it felt plenty warm. Towards the top and in darker shaded areas there was a dusting of snow. At the summit, it was cold and windy but beautiful. The summit sign was almost buried by snow, but we were able to find it pretty quickly.
We took the Five Oaks Trail on the way back down, and it was much narrower and uneven than the main trail but overall still in great condition.
Afterwards, we were surprised at how easy this trail felt! Definitely worth the drive out early in the morning. You can tell the locals take a lot of pride in this area and keep it clean and maintained.
