Well I was not looking forward to this hike at all. See, Ontario Peak will forever be my enemy. I did that hike by taking the Ice House Canyon trail too. So, I assumed I was going to hate this peak to, but I needed to try it at least once.
Sara H. and I made plans to make up this hike because we weren't able to do hike it with the wonderful Girls Who Hike group we typically did these peaks with. I'm so grateful she was there to help encourage all the way up. We started our ascend and hit the saddle much faster than we had anticipated. We thought we were the turtles, but getting there with about an hour to spare gave us an extra boost of confidence.
One thing that I always remember about this hike is the man that began tumbling down towards the end (at the last bit of switchbacks). PEOPLE! STAY ON THE TRAIL! This man decided to cut down and began a momentum he couldn't stop. I, along with many others on the trail, feared the worst and we all mentaly came up with a plan to attempt to save this man in a terrible situation. Luckly enough, he was able to grab onto some bushes/trees and he was able to stop himself. He had to gather his belongings that he had accidently threw about as he was rolling down, but overall he seemed pretty okay. Terrified the rest of us though.
The views at the top of this hike were amazing and I definetely would hike it again!
