It's not how many miles you walk, it's how many smiles you share.
The bitter sweet thing about hiking in the Fall is that although the views are absolutely gorgeous, with the changing of the colors of foliage and cooler weather, your non snow hiking days are numbered. We chose Cucamonga Peak yesterday for that reason. It's peak #5 of our #6PackofPeaks challenge. It was absolutely beautiful. The weather was perfect. The sound of the creek as you started the trek up the mountain was so calming and grounding. Hiking really is my favorite because of the peacefulness of it. We found our future homestead, it just need a roof, and windows, but it has a fireplace!! ? We met some guys on the way up the mountain and ended up hiking with them to the top and back down. The best part was, they thought we were their age! Yay for looking 26! The conversation was great and we shared many laughs. We gained a little over 4,000 ft in elevation in a little over 6 miles. It was a bit windy at the peak, but with no clouds in sight you could see all the cities down below! The trail was a bit rocky in some parts, but manageable.
I really enjoyed this hike and I'll definitely do it again. Maybe next time we can rent a cabin, bring the kids and hike more of the mountain. Also, so I can bring a rock with me. The week got away from me, so I didn't get to paint one.
Get outside and enjoy nature! Connecting with nature really does something for your soul, plus every peak brings you closer to heaven ?
