I drove up from San Diego at 4:30am and was able to get on the trail right around 7:00. There were only a couple other cars in the lot. It was a chilly and windy hike, but the sun was bright and warm and the peak was actually the calmest and warmest part of the trip. I had the summit to myself and got wonderful views with intermittent clouds. The trail was clear, although I had to keep checking All Trails because there were so many different trail to choose. I actually took a wrong turn near the peak and had to bushwhack my way up part of the summit because the trail had taken me back down a ways. The way down along Icehouse Creek is rough on the knees and legs because of so much boulder and gravel. I was definitely happy to be done. Overall it was a tough but very rewarding hike!
