It was a pretty warm day, but there is quite a bit of shade from pines, oaks, and manzanita. There were a lot of flowers blooming and so pollinators were plentiful. We saw swallowtail, sulpher, hairstreak, and acmon butterflies and lots of bees. Near the top we were greeted by about 5 vultures catching thermals. The views were mostly obscured by smog all around. Gnats and flies were very persistent and annoying in the shade. Overall a great hike. I'd like to try again in the fall when Santa Anas blow the smog offshore and improves visibility.
