I was a little nervous when I parked the car and it said the temp outside was only 37 degrees!! I felt under-prepared! The trail was great, very easy to follow. I went counterclockwise and started off to the right leaving the parking lot. Just wore hiking boots, no spikes, no poles. The trail was fine until about 3/4 of the way up and I ran into some snowy patches in the shady areas of the trail. A lot of the snow was icey and spikes would have been extremely helpful! I honestly would recommend not doing the loop and taking the same trail down that I took up. The fireroad coming down was very un-exciting…. However, I plan on coming back later in the year for a sunset hike to the peak with a group of friends. The fire road down in the dark will be safer and easier for people that aren't avid hikers, which is always my concern with a sunset hike!
