Lots of snow, ice, falling ice from trees, frozen mud, and super slippery mud where it has thawed out. Beautiful hike.
I took the long way to the peak via Azalea Glen loop and then returned on same trail. I did not want to take the steep paved road either direction.
Straight shot via the paved road is 5.5 miles, I logged 9.8 miles taking the trail. At top of trail you end up on the paved road a bit, steep and covered in ice in areas making you very mindful of your footing. It seemed worse coming down the steep ice covered road. I dropped a small plastic device when I took a break and it slid down the road about 25 yards. I'm not talking packed snow, straight up ice ice baby!
Trees were covered in heavy ice, must have had an ice storm up there. One of my pics I am holding  a large piece of ice that fell from a tree as I walked by and the wind blew, missed me by about 4 feet
30's and 40's with a 10mph breeze when out in the open.
Mud is bad in spots, not bad in area's still frozen. Probably take a while to dry out given the amount of snow and ice still on the mountain.
If there is a peak sign up there, I didn't look for it or have the coordinates. Not much wind protection up there so I rolled in, took some pics, rolled out and found a calm spot to sit and have a snack.
