It was a hot day. Temperature was mid-80s up. We started the hike around 9:30am. We took the Azalea Glen Loop because we couldn’t find the fire road. There was a bit of shade at the beginning of the hike until we reached the Azalea Spring fire road. It was hot there after. Then we hit the Lookout Road. It was like the surface of the sun and the climb wasn’t any help. We reached the peak at around noon. Enjoyed the view and turned around and took the whole Lookout road all the way down to Paso Picacho parking lot. The hike was a little challenging for my liking. And the heat didn’t help. But the fact that it was only a few miles from Julian, it made everything better. Had the best apple pie as a reward.
