The road to get to the trailhead was drivable for all vehicles. The parking lot at Paso Picacho Campground was open to park. Parking / day use is 10 dollars. We walked through the campground to get to the lookout Road which was completely covered in snow all the way to the peak. The snow has been compacted a good amount which made it a little bit easier to hike on. Some of the areas were slippery due to wet or icy conditions. It was beautiful to listen to the snow/ice falling off the trees as you hiked. Well we hiked with just hiking shoes it did seem that the majority of people that were hiking had the snow grips on the bottom of their shoes which would have been more ideal. Some of them also had hiking sticks which may have been beneficial. But we were able to make it that up and down without incident using goretex/waterproof boots
