We started off on the Azalea Glen Loop Trail about 10 am (from Paso Picacho Campground). There was lots of sunshine, although clouds covered the view to the west to the coast. The trail was flat at first and then gradually became more rocky as we started going uphill.  We eventually got to a fire road and it was a bit unclear as to which way to go (and we'd forgotten to download the All Trails map).  We went to the right and eventually found the Los Conejos trailhead on our left.  It was rocky going uphill and there was runoff from recent rains which made it feel like we were walking in a stream for a large part of this trail.  The trail leveled out into a pine forest – it smelled like Christmas trees! We eventually came to the paved Lookout Road and turned right to go to the top of the peak.  This was the hardest part of the hike!  Glad I wasn't the only one who had to go slow!  Great views worth the pain! After taking some pictures and eating a sandwich, we returned to Paso Picacho via the paved road.
